The presentation covers the causation and evaluation of upper extremity disorders, including the diagnosis, treatment, and work capability related to carpal tunnel syndrome.

NIOSH criteria for determining the work-relatedness of diseases and the importance of epidemiologic data in understanding CTS are discussed. The role of ergonomics in preventing discomfort, though not necessarily disease, is highlighted, along with the importance of on-site evaluations.
